Just to complicate matters when I look up the codes on the bearings they give an internal diameter of 17mm. Am I too worried about tolerances here?

I've been using my shopsmith 510 as a lathe to learn woodturning. All was going well until I started getting spiral cuts and couldn't a smooth cut as previously.
