Good point. I was thinking about the narrowing but not the stretching. But, that would mean I really do need to allow the belt to go a little further out at the motor sheaves at high speed. Either way I've learned a lot via reading up on the manuals, forum, and teardown/ reconditioning. I don't mind ...

Yes - I was referring to the high speed stop
. I assume that as the belt wears over time that the same effect would happen at both high and low speeds, therefore if I adjust the spacing now it will naturally get to the 'normal' spacing as it wears. Faulty logic?

The sheaves move quite easily. I did work the down-shifting much more slowly and it didn't tighten up near as quickly. I will chalk this up to the thicker belt for the moment. The other thing I may try is to adjust the stop to allow the belt to move a little farther out on the motor sheaves than the ...

Thanks JPG. I just got through cleaning and lubing, so lack of lubricating shouldn't be the cause. I will try the slower down shifting first.
