Re: Eccentric movement
Thanks for the quick reply but now I must ask - how do I go about getting the shaft back flush? Do I have to release the motor removing the tension on the belts then pull the shaft back out so they are flush? This sounds to be a major adjustment. as far as the lock washer is concerned, I loosened it...

Eccentric movement
Hi I need some advice since I know I can't rely on Shopsmith to help. I've had my Power Pro for about 6 years now and have been noticing an increase in bearing noise. also I'm getting what seems to be belt slippage. So I opened up the motor and looked at the Eccentric and noticed that the Eccentric ...

Re: Way tube slide
If I had this to deal with, I would pull the headstock off the tubes and clean the wedge locks with mineral spirits. I would then clean the Way with mineral spirits, wipe them clean and then wax and polish the Ways. When the headstock goes back on, I would expect it to slide as it did when new. I d...

Way tube slide
I replaced my 510 with a new Power Pro head some time ago. I know the Power Pro is heavier then the 510 and is more difficult to slide on the Way tubes, but it seems like as time has gone by, it is more difficult to slide now. I keep the way tubes cleaned and waxed per the guide but still at times i...

Steadyrest idea.
Thanks Steve - I'm going to assume then that the bolt should go down - and exit below the saddle - with a knurled knob or some type of tightening knob so that you will have plenty of clear space between your turning and the bottom of the steadyrest. Great job.

Vibration/noise
I did sort of the same thing. I had some left over pad from some laminate flooring I had installed - it's a rubber pad about 1/16 inch thick. I cut out four L shaped pieces and clued them to the bottom of my frame - using super glue - works great.

Rounded boards
I remember in high school shop a lot of guys were making toboggans out of oak and they heated the ends of wood slats in boiling water for a period of time, then put then in a jig were they bent them. After then cooled they held that shape. So my thought is perhaps if you have an old turkey fryer, tr...

Replaced PowerPro Head stock
Have had my PowerPro now for about a year. From the get go I noticed a strange noise coming from the Idler shaft area. Called and talked with Wes and he walked me through adjusting the Ecsentric bearing - and it sort of quited down. Still not happy with the noise since I was sold on the fact that th...
