Still getting my feet on the ground using the planer. I have a 1984 model with 1.5 hp motor rated at 16.8 amps. I notice in pictures that the 1.75 motor is rated at 15 amps. Looks to me like the wrong motor is rated at 1.75 up.
My question is must you buy the SS knives due to the tapered body or ...

Afraid it's so, old and long time.
Good advice, I'll order the pulley set.
I'm not sure about dust collection. There is a 2 7/8" hole under the SS badge. Is that what is needed for the dust collection?

Hello all.
Purchased Mark 5 at a mall in 1978. Next tool purchase is a used pro planer yesterday. By serial number it is a 1984 model in fine useable shape.
I do believe the belt needs an upgrade. I also see the pulley upgrade package to increase the speed - seems significant.
Could you all help ...
