Magna 610 jigsaw refurb - parts?

Searching on posts for "610 jigsaw' I came across a couple where people were discussing making and possibly selling the crankcase gaskets for these machines.

If anybody has one for sale, please let me know. I'm also in the market for a lower chuck.

Re: Rusty 610 Jigsaw

Did anyone ever install an aquarium check valve and test it out? Seems like an easy, cheap solution; the question is how much of a reduction in air fllow it might cause.
Guess I'll be the guinea pig here.

I also noticed this morning that after reassembly of the two pieces of the check valve puffer ...

Re: Rusty 610 Jigsaw

I'm in the process of refurbing a Magna jigsaw. The puffer assembly contains no springs or balls at all, otherwise it looks like the picture above (with no aluminum ring to hold the ball in place). I guess I'll just have to do without!
I suspect you guys are right, they just stopped putting the ...

Re: Stand alone overhead router manual please!

I would agree with those recommending a new top, at a minimum. That way you can toss the SS insert (non standard, and not heavy duty) and go with a better insert. Kreg, Jessem, Rockler all make good inserts. You could add a lift easily as well, giving you both above and below capability.
I made my ...

Re: Incra Miter 5000 (Shopsmith runners)

I would suggest you contact incra directly. It is possible they have some old Shopsmith stock they can't be bothered to put on the website, and if enough people call and ask for the part, they might consider producing a limited run of them!

Re: Should we be concerned?

The slow decline of the Shopsmith brand is largely the result of these factors:
1) The increase in wealth of the average user. In 1950, many of our grandfathers ran these machines in their basement or garage, because they didn't have the space and could not afford standalone tools. Today, most ...

Re: Zerk (grease gun) fitting installed on belt sander upper drum

so after using this mod have you noticed any issues with the enlarged drum hole and sanding belt issues.
I would think that the 1/2 hole really has not caused any belt holes or weird wear but asking is knowing
Thanks

I have noticed nothing but smoother operation and less vibration (probably ...

I'm using cheapos from Amazon, here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWNGZ9K
Toyo seems to be the best 'brand' I've come across for this size. Probably the best to get would be what they call "full complement" - all rollers, no cage - and avoid sealed as I don't think they need sealing (the ...

Re: Belt Sander as Sharpening Station

Chris, those are the standard Tormek honing wheels. I just had an arbor made to fit the Shopsmith 5/8 shaft with a 12mm 1.75 thread on the end.

Zerk (grease gun) fitting installed on belt sander upper drum

I installed a 1/4-28 straight zerk fitting in one of the holes of the upper sander drum. It required drilling it out to 1/2 inch (to fit socket to tighten zerk) then drilling with a 7/32 drill and tapping with 1/4-28 tap. Then I milled the bottom of the hole flat so I could get a good grip with the ...
