It looked like there might be a similar item for the shopsmith dust collector. Do you know if that might work as well? I do not have one but I might be able to find a replacement key or part for that.

Would the locksmith be able to make a key or would he need to replace the whole lock mechanism? I am not sure how the lock is tied into the switches to keep it from working. I would just go to the hardware store and get a lock and replace it if it was a simple cabinet lock but I suspect it is not ...

Replacement safety key or solution for old Mark 7 Headstock
I was able to get a Shopsmith Mark 7 (I am told the old model) - not the one with the push button panel. The problem is, it does not have the safety key that is an actual metal key that goes into a lock located underneath the Rev/Stop/Fwd switches on the headstock.
