another obvious question, but have you checked your outlet? Plugged a light into it or something? From what you have said, I suspect source, not machine. If you have a volt (multimeter) start at the outlet and go from there. Hope you find the problem! I was thinking either the outlet or the breaker...

Here is what i am working on. i will eventually need to replace the base underneath with locking wheels. This currently just rolls around and i have to chuck the wheels to prevent movement.

So far all the restores i have seen have come out really nice. not much of a gold person myself but they do look GREAT. i will try to get some pictures of what i currently have not. although i have the Headstock completely apart, the rest is still togethor

Thanks for all the info, i wouldn't expect box stores to have the industrial paint. probably look into an auto parts place for something like that. Since i have time i will have to look into what colors would look good on this.

I have my parts on order and should have next week. i was thinking about repainting the shopsmith and get it looking new again. Any suggestions on paint and what colors to use? I would like to try and match original colors if i can. Any recommendations on what to put on the tubes to help the headsto...

i ended up with 1 casualty, turns out the collar was cracked and is now on my list of parts to purchase. seems previous owner had some type of filler in one of the set screws for reasons unknown and ended putting a crack in it when trying to remove. otherwise things are going well getting the headst...

a set screw on a retaining collar, it was stripped and ended up hammering a star bit inside and got it loose that way. still working on getting things loose since it looks like rust has gotten to quite a bit of the parts

I was able to remove the side with the spring that was full of dust leaving hardly any room for the spring to move but i still am unable to rotate the gear inside still. i also have a screw that i have yet to be able to budge, still not sure how i am going to get that loose without drilling it out. ...

i will give that a shot tonight, took quite a bit to move parts on this since it was only ever in one position. between some oil and no seize i was able to get the headstock off last night and remove the motor. the inside looked like it was full of grease and dust but i will be able to get a better ...
