Re: Sanding Walnut

The stripes are the grain of the white pine. The dark wood is black walnut.
The picture of the finished bowl is over the size limit to post.

Re: Sanding Walnut

Thanks, that’s working. Trying to scrape with a bowl gouge isn’t something I’ve mastered yet, or sharpening etc etc.

Sanding Walnut

Finishing up turning a bowl and having trouble with the end grain on the walnut. Sanded clear down to 400 grit and still have marks in the end grain. Any advice?

Here is a video of no chuck bowl turning... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3YMbjpQOLtM Also search for jamb and dou...

Re: NOVA chuck owners get in here...

The cost really isn’t the factor. I’m looking at holding a bowl with a 15 1/2” inside diameter. I have lowered my rpm to approximately 125. What little I’ve researched the nova cole jaws I haven’t found any that size. Metal work being my profession I figured why not make a set if the chuck sliders p...

Re: NOVA chuck owners get in here...

So does the slide that the jaws attach to protrude past the face of the chuck or are they recessed?
