Re: Quill stuck and motor screech
Just as an update.... I ended beating the quill shaft about a half inch into the case with a hammer, using a block of wood to protect the end of the quill. This got the quill moving and also positioned it inside the case so that a pry bar could be used to push it back out again. Repeating this a few ...

Re: Quill stuck and motor screech
Thanks, I read your post this morning at work and couldn't wait to get home and give this a try but alas I couldn't make it twist at all.
My next thought is to apply some heat with a torch to the aluminum case that cradles the quill on the inside in the hopes of getting that to expand a bit and ...

Re: Quill stuck and motor screech
Here's where I left it last night, everything out of the case except the quill and the drive shaft it couples to, neither will budge, I have the snap ring removed from the quill side and the retaining ring removed from the drive shaft on the other end and nothings moving. Not sure if I need to start ...

Re: Quill stuck and motor screech
can't wait to start doing all that, but I need to actually get the quill out first... tonight I took out the shaft with pinion gear that extends the quill and used a prybar to try to move the quill with no luck, I didn't want to put too much pressure on the case but I used more than enough to move ...

Re: Quill stuck and motor screech
I did release the quill lock, I pretty much took it all the way off... top set screw is currently removed, but I'll be sure not to tighten it too much when i put it back.

Quill stuck and motor screech
Hi, first post here so go easy. I just scored a '56 greenie from a friend yesterday and spent most of today checking it out and reading through online posts and documentation to see what parts might be missing, turns out there's quite a few. It came with a jig saw, band saw and disk sander, as well ...
