Re: MV 500 Saw Guard Mounting Block

Thanks David and Russ. I did find what I needed on eBay. My shop is relatively small so I just purchased the main table assembly, the carriage assembly and the upper and lower saw guards. Everything came in good condition and I am in the process of doing all the adjustments. I am waiting for a new s...

Re: MV 500 Saw Guard Mounting Block

Thanks to everyone for all your help and suggestions. After thinking about this issue I have decided to upgrade to a 520 main table and get the newer upper and lower saw guards. Thanks again.

520 main table upgrade issue

Hello, I just purchased a 520 main table for my old model 500. I also bought the upper and lower saw guards. When installing the lower guard I couldn't get the saw arbor to fully seat on the quill due to the guard being in the way-see pictures. Is there something I need to adjust on the quill or the...

MV 500 Saw Guard Mounting Block

Hello, Last year I purchased the upgraded upper and lower saw guard for the model 500. The mounting block for the upper guard broke the other day (actually it shattered into 20 pieces!) and I went to shopsmith.com and they no longer carry that part (part number 513500). Does anyone have that part th...

Model 500 Saw Guard Upgrade

Hello, I just purchased a model 500 saw guard system upgrade (part number 505875). In the box there is a template of some sort - looks like it might go on the posts of the main table - but there were no instructions on what to do with it. Does anyone have or know where I might find the installation ...

Re: Problem with Main Table

Use caution not to break the front or rear trunnions. If you have to replace them you will have to get used ones. After Shopsmith discontinued the Mark V Model 500 they stopped making replacement parts for them and these are two parts they no longer have. Thanks. I am still struggling to get things...

Re: Problem with Main Table

Start in MickyD's Greenie Restoration thread here https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?p=31634#p31634 He did an exceptional job restoring his greenie, and indexed the process in this post. I use 50 /50 mix of acetone (flamable) and ATF automatic transmission fluid to penetrate rust. I u...
