Re: Jointer bearing stuck inside block

Thanks for the ideas, guys! Love the Video of the grease method. I sat down with some Bud Light thinking juice and “scienced the f out of this.” The problem was disassembling three parts- the shaft(steel), the bearing(also steel) and the pillow block (aluminum.) If I could get the pillow block off, ...

Jointer bearing stuck inside block

Hi, guys! I'm restoring a rusty old magna jointer, and I've been able to get everything apart for cleaning, except for one of the bearings that I'm going to replace. The bearing on the short end of the shaft is stuck inside the aluminum pillow block. There is no hole in the back of the block. I just...

Suggestions, please!

Hi, everybody!Long story, but I am the proud owner of THREE Mark V Shopsmiths and a clutch of spt's. I am finishing up the rehab on the third, and I'm going to rehab the three headstocks this summer. I'd like advice on how I could set up the machines to reduce changeovers. My workshop is one car wid...

Re: Caster Upgrade

I got a set of casters with ball bearings from Grainger. Rated for 75 pounds each, and I didn’t have to drill any new mounting holes in the legs, and the shafts fit perfectly in the sleeves. I’ll post the part numbers later, if you like.

Aligning jigsaw to headstock power hub?

Got my old Magna jigsaw cleaned up, oils and running with a minor issue. I got the power hub on the jigsaw lined up vertically with the headstock power hub by adjusting the jigsaw mounting leg height, but the two hubs are about 1/4” out of alignment horizontally. How can I adjust this? I can use the...

Re: The wisdom of the masses

I using Rustoleum Self Etching Priner to start, and then I’m going to have a paint store match the Shopsmith gray and finish with that. I wound up with three like this: I bought the first one and needed some bits and pieces for it, and then I followed up on a CL ad that I thought was for a jointer, ...
