Re: Essential table saw accessories

Karl, Some very good feedback already. Might be more of a nice to have, but I love the Jessem Clear-Cut TS™ Stock Guides. At the link below, I show it mounted on my 520 fence, but others have mounted it on their 510 fence. I only had one kickback on my 510 at the time and I have been woodworking for...

Re: Lathe Tool Rests ... What is This?

Me thinks you already implemented this solution before you even started this thread... Nope. This thread, like my life, is a work-in-progress... I only said that because I have seen a few posts like this in the past, where someone poses a problem to the forum, they get a few responses, then posts t...

Re: Lathe Tool Rests ... What is This?

As Russ showed, just two bolts (4) have to be removed and the entire UTR can be removed. Those two bolts clamp the UTR to the carriage with the mounting plate bar (1). It really is easy to take off and remove. It is heavy though and it does take some time to remove, a relatively short time, but then...

Re: Power Pro 2 touch screen problems

Jeff, Sorry this is happening. From an electronics perspective, these touchscreens, well the more modern ones, started as resistive touchscreens. Meaning the resistance of a finger touching the screen would be used to determine the location pressed. These didn't work as well and eventually capacitiv...

Re: Lathe Tool Rests ... What is This?

Said a different way, you are using the standard tool rest arm and it doesn't really work well with quick release knobs because you don't have the clearance. IF you had the UTR (Universal Tool Rest) from Shopsmith, using quick release knobs would be no problem, i.e. you wouldn't need another tool to...

Re: Solid choice for a combo square

Hi guys. Thanks so much for your responses. This gives me a lot to go on and learning that some of Starrett's products are made in China help me understand some of the negative reviews I have read. Thanks, Karl Karl, IF you go to this link in the Starrett website you can shop the Made in USA produc...

Re: Solid choice for a combo square

Based on a YT video form Stumpy Nubs, I bought one of these from iGaging and am very happy with it. Jim https://taytools.com/products/igaging-12-2-piece-combination-square-with-4r-graduations-in-1-8-1-16-1-32-and-1-64?_pos=3&_sid=177ee35c7&_ss=r Jim, Thanks. Yeah, I have heard good things a...

Re: Solid choice for a combo square

As I understand it, Starrett moved manufacturing for some of their tools to China, but NOT all. I believe some of the negative Starrett online comments stem from this shift by the company. I love Starrett and have their combination square. I do use it, but it isn't my daily driver so to speak. I own...

Re: Moxon Vice for Mark V

I really like this and what a beautiful vice. Thanks for the inspiration. I have been trying to figure out the best place and strategy for a woodworking vise in my small shop so you have definitely given me something to think about.
