Re: Bent Miter Gauge Bar?

I've been meaning to get back to this. It's a common issue, and it can be easily solved in many cases by just leaving the miter gauge lying in the track over time. It will try to conform to that space it is in. I'm not sure why but perhaps the bottom side in contact with the table tends to stay col...

Re: Bent Miter Gauge Bar?

The new version is available: https://www.shopsmith.com/service/mark/miter_gauge/mark_miter_gauge_diagram.htm Item 280 Part Number 51814. It is not clear to me if the old version for Model 500 and earlier is available, but you can call Customer Service and ask them. The new part should work for you...

Bent Miter Gauge Bar?

I have an older Mark V. I believe around 1981 or so is when I bought it. I haven't thought it glided in the grooves like it should and was looking at it yesterday. It has clearly be bent. Not sideways but vertically. I might be able to take it off and try to bend it back but I usually cause more pro...

Re: Buffing Knife Handles> Beall System?

You are correct, I on the speed dial is supposed to be about 1750 rpm. Beall Tool has many videos on buffing on YouTube or through the Beall website. At about the 1:30 mark in this video, he says not to use very much carnauba wax, or it will leave smears and streaks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Buffing Knife Handles> Beall System?

Been a very long time since I have been on here and glad to discover it again. I have an old 82 or so Mark V. I have just gone through it and put a little oil where I should have years ago etc. Anyway, I have got into making knife handles and putting them on both new and used blades. Enjoying it muc...

Re: 18"Jigsaw 505644 parts?

Ya, well, I got the part made using brake line. That isn't going to work as the steel doesn't spring back into the original position after compressing it with the set screw. Guess I will see if I can find a piece of aluminum tube and hope for the best. I would like to use stainless but don't think I...

Re: 18"Jigsaw 505644 parts?

Thank you both! I gave some thought to what I may have laying around that might work to try to make such an animal. Thought about some new break line I have never used. Well, turns out it is the exact same size. I have cut it and now will attempt to put a slice in the end of it. Not sure there is a...

18"Jigsaw 505644 parts?

Glad to find this forum! I have had my Mark V for about 40 years. I have the old grey colored Jigsaw that is in pretty good shape except for a broken Split Tube (part 502249). I have no idea when they came out with the newer Jig Saw but have a feeling they haven't made mine for a few and maybe many ...
