Re: Belt Sander Question

...And the belt tracks closer to the platen without flapping... Congratulations. Did CS help to solve this? Going back to your original question here, are you saying that the belt is still not in contact with the platen when tensioned but not sanding? Mine is much different than that, it is in firm...

Re: Belt Sander Question

Follow up. Shortly after I wrote this, I began to suspect that my problem was that the torsion spring inside my idler drum was, to use the technical term, kaput. Even when properly tensioned, it didn't have enough oomph to push up against the belt. So I ordered a new idler drum assembly from Shopsmi...

Re: Festool TS 55 won't start

This is embarrassing. The problem was simple. The Festool power cord has a lock that must be twisted to fully engage. Even though the first thing I tried was to remove it and put it back on, apparently I did not twist it far enough and it wasn't locked on. A good twist and now it is making sawdust a...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see what I can do and if I figure it out, I'll report back.

Haven't checked either. Don't have a continuity tester.

Festool TS 55 won't start

I know there are some other Festool users here so hoping to get some help. I went to use my TS 55 track saw today and it wouldn't start. Not a sound. I bought this new probably 6 years ago but it has been very, very lightly used. Never dropped. Last time I used it, it purred like a kitten. Put it aw...

Re: charlese

Steve, Thank you for sharing this information with us. If there is an on-line obituary, please post a link to it here so we can read about the rest of Charlese's life. I never met your Dad in person, but he truly was an inspiration and much beloved member of the Shopsmith Forum family. He had a prod...
