1/4 inch steel. I would like to make a good square cut

I heard metal cutting band saws make way less mess and noise than say an angle grinder..

That's why I was wondering if I could switch out the blade on my Shopsmith bandsaw to cut he steel tubing.

I was wondering if I could put a blade on my band saw that would cut steel tubing and angle iron?

I have a 3/4 hp New refurbished 1956 Mark V with a band saw attachment t

Thanks for the input and advice. I was figuring a band saw would be safer and more accurate than an angle grinder

My belt sander appears to be set up as describe. It seems that the direction of the sander belt move in the same direction as the tension knobs moves when you are loosening the tension, so that everytime I turn on the belt sander the tension on the belt releases. Does that make sense?

belt sander direction

Hi Forum I just got the belt sander attachment and I think that I have something set up wrong. Every time I hook up the belt sander and turn it on the tension on the sanding belt is released by the direction of the motor. Do I have the belt sander on wrong? Is my Mark V spinning the wrong way? I see...

fit Mark V with multiple headstocks?

I was wondering if there are modifications that folks have done to modify a shopsmith to work with multiple headstocks so that you could power more equipment (band saw, jointer, belt sander) without changing. For instance, leaving the Mark V in drill press mode, and adding another set of tubes that ...

Awesome. I hesitate getting another one because it seems like it would really allow me to add only one more attachment at a time because the band saw, belt sander, and jig saw all attached at the back spindal (not sure what you call it). I guess what I am wondering is what the optimal set up would b...

Would I be crazy?

I just finished restoring a 1956 Mark V and now I thinking of getting another Mark V just so that I can have multiple equipment set up at once. I have the jointer, band saw, and belt sander attachments already. Thing is, I found a great deal on craigslist for a mark V for $200 bucks that comes with ...
