Wasn't thinking. Looking at pics 1-3, I thought the whole process mounted to the way tubes and then took a long look at pic5 and the whole thing is mounted on top of the carriage. We all have days...I just chose today to have a week's worth.

re: mounting the Mounting plate 1. Does the mounting plate bar mount against the bottom of the way tubes ? (center to center on way tubes is about 7-1/4" and the mounting bar is 7") This doesn't make sense to me 2. The socket head screws are 5" long ,the mounting bar is 1/2", the...

turning extra long pieces
Though sectioning is a good idea you might want to build a simple box to hold your length of wood and use your router to run back and forth along the length of the box. just an idea.
