Re: Lathe Tool Rests ... What is This?

If anyone is interested, I have photos of how I drilled, tapped, and supported the new bolt position. Just let me know and I can post the photos. Thanks. I'm interested in the "how-to" for this, especially the material you used to build up the casting. When I looked at the picture I thoug...

Re: Essential table saw accessories

You didn't mention a miter gauge, this is a basic necessity unless you're only doing rip cuts. You also did not mention which model you have, so while I like (but don't necessarily need) the non-through cut riving knife it does not fit Model 500 and earlier. A dado blade is certainly useful, but the...

Re: Quill difficult to advance

If the pinion turns freely and the splines slide smoothly I would next check to see if the quill barrel moves freely in the headstock bore with the quill lock loosened. One way the bore can be deformed is if someone tightens the quill lock with no quill in place, that is the reason we use the 'rever...

Re: Power Pro 2 touch screen problems

It sounds like your upgrade kit should still be under warranty. I would start by contacting Shopsmith Customer Service. I don't have a Gen 2, but it appears to me that you can remove the control panel and temporarily connect your Gen 1 control panel to confirm a control panel problem. Screwing the G...

Re: Upgrading a 500 (1985)

Could I just go with the 555608 arbor? Its longer and 5/8". looks like I need some new blades anyway. Could I just add the front and rear rail assemblies to my Mark 5 (500) table so I can use the better fence? Your pictures show a 'Model 510 and on' lower saw guard, compatible with 510, 505, 5...

Re: Lubricating the main spindle

There is no fan sheave on the PowerPro, instead you have a poly-v style pulley on one end of the motor and a fan on the other end. Check that the pulley is positioned all the way out and is adjacent to the snap ring on the motor shaft and not rubbing on the motor housing. Both the fan and pulley set...

Re: "Big Beautiful Bill" and "No Tax on SSA Benefits"

Is this too good to be true. The House has voted and we now wait for the Senate. Could it be? IIUC the answer is yes, that is too good to be true. Tax fairness on SSA benefits is not part of the "BBB" just passed by the House. (It is still alive and part of something else.) No tax on tip ...

Re: 520 upgrade: lock knob with stud

How many of the little springs that go on the lock knobs did it come with, and how many did the instructions say it came with? 8, 10, 11, or 13 all seem to be in play. Hopefully at least 10.

Re: 520 upgrade: lock knob with stud

I have A LOT of these tables, all somewhat older. All of my small tables, floating or extension, have one rivnut centered on the front, one centered on the back, and one lock screw per rivnut. Ten (10) per complete set as you said.

Re: Sliding the headstock easier

I've tried unlocking the headstock to maximum, and then sliding the lock forward and back to make sure the wedges are freed up, and this doesn't really change the behavior. There is variation in wedge lock preset. When I unlock my headstock to maximum, the lock assembly won't move in and out becaus...
