Mahogany Serving Tray

The Mahogany used for the serving tray come from an old council TV cabinet that had a solid Mahogany top. Note the close fit of the compound cut beveled corners. I am always amazed at the accuracy that can be achieved with the SS. The second photo is of the prototype used to refine the compound angl...

Re: Lap Tray for Mother's Day

What do you have in mind for the piece of “firewood” setting on the jointer? This is a piece of sixty-year branch wood from a mulberry tree. This and some other pieces were harvested and treated to prevent splitting while drying specifically for woodworking. The center is a tobacco color and looks ...

Lap Tray for Mother's Day

I thought I would serve She Who Must Be Obeyed (I have been reading Rumpole of the bailey) breakfast in bed for Mother's Day. But she explained to me that I was to stay out of her kitchen. So, I was thinking maybe I could convince her to serve me breakfast in bed for Father's Day. 20230514_120555.jp...

Re: Three Deminsional Eight Pointed Srar

I'm running out of scrap wood (aka, cutoffs) trying to figure out how to cut one of these. If I only understood the angles and dangles of geometry, there is probably better ways to do it, but this is how I did it. I started by making a cube as accurately as possible. the corners make the eight poin...

Scrap Wood A.K.N. as Cutoffs Bookends

We have a small kitchen, so the adult beverages share cupboard space with the cookbooks. It seams every time I reach for a beverage the cookbooks fall over. Well, no more I made bookends with rubber shelf liner to prevent slipping.

Re: Three Deminsional Eight Pointed Srar

Two intersecting tetrahedrons. Although made of 3 pointed triangles the tetrahedron has four faces and vertices. Very impressive work from this forum member. Really want to find out more about the jig. tetrahedron? Now that is a mouth full. Interesting one person saw triangles. One person saw pyram...

Re: Three Deminsional Eight Pointed Srar

I am trying to deterine where the eighth point comes from with three triangles. I'll stat tuned. I don't know how to take a picture showing all eight points with the same shot. So the star on the right show the front and top the picture on the left shows the bottom and the back. PS couldn't resist ...

Simple Circle Cutting / Sanding Jig

Five minutes and some scrap wood is all it takes. The interchangeable SS design makes it possible to go from circle cutting to sanding with this jig. The jig would also work with the sanding disk and may work better.

Magnet on a stick

Some time back my wife asked me to replace the needle on her sewing machine. After making excuses and procrastinating as long as I could my wife explained how it would be in my best interest to fix the sewing machine. So I promptly dropped the needle on the floor. My wife saw me struggling to bend o...
