Re: Non-SS Recommendation

A friend in Oklahoma once told me that "y'all" is the singular and "all y'all" is the plural of the pronoun.

Re: Kentuky Weather

It looks like they got all the rain that the dry places are begging for. Nature never distributes the water right.

Re: Planer mod?

I would think it would work. You might want to take smaller bites when sanding than you do when planing,

Re: Graphene Coating instead of JPW???

I live by the old advice, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." Paste wax has done the job for decades and done it well so I'm not looking for something to fix it, especially with something more expensive.
But, I'm old so old advice works for me.

Re: Small Pieces - Kickback

I made up a crosscut sled for cutting small pieces. For me, it works so much better for that job. The sled keeps the small pieces contained during cutting.

Re: Belt sander upper drum bearings

I've found that most bearings have their idendifying number stamped on them. Have you looked at the old bearings for numbers? If you find numbers on the bearings, it becomes a simple job to take them to any local bearing shop and get new ones from them.

I actually don't know the brand ot the motor. I simply took it apart, cleaned the contacts and put it back together. I wasn't interested in the tag on the motor.
It is a 1982 Shopsmith if that helps identify the motor.

Re: Motor hums but doesn't turn

I had one of my headstock motors do that a couple of years ago. I removed the motor from the headstock, tore the motor apart and cleaned up the centrifugal switch contacts. It worked. It hasn't caused any problems since that time.

Re: Shopsnith CS/Shipping

I had similar good luck recently. I placed an order on Sunday afternoon. Shopsmth had all the parts on hand so they shipped on Monday and I got the parts on Thursday.

Re: Manual Speed Control Travel

I think you might be on to something there. If the end of the control sheave is missing or has a damaged bearing and 'button' the porkchop might be experiencing pressure greater than 'normal'. I don't think it is case of more pressure. The clicking causes a chatter and vibration. That vibration cau...
