Re: Shop Smith not spinning

If the motor turns but the output shaft of the unit doesn't turn, it is likely related to the belts and pulleys. If the pulleys stick in the open position and the belt is loose, they can't work. Pull the side cover and inspect the belt area to see what is turning and what isn't. It is a simple mecha...

Re: Went shopping today

Today was planing day. I finally got around to getting that 80 bd ft of walnut outside and planing it. I ended up with a 50 gallon trash bag of wood chips from the job. The old planer got a workout.

Re: Its only money ????

That makes sense. Smaller homes equal less lumber, less house cleaning, and less area to have to chase down the Wife.

I just hope they are still growing enough new hardwood for my woodworking projects.

Re: SS Order, Net Positive

I also had great results recently ordering from Shopsmith. I needed the dust collector chutes for my jointer, planer, and bandsaw. The one for the jointer was listed as "out of stock" on the site, but I ordered all of them anyway. I ordered on Monday and the entire order arrived complete o...

Messed up! ! ! s/b $.72 :o
Don't rush off just yet to spend your $0.72. That 0.005 is APR. Unless you collect a full year's interest, you get only $0.06 per month.

Re: Table Line Up

It appears to me that you are overthinking this. You should be able to get an adequate alignment by simply putting the factory table insert in the table, lowering the table down with either the sanding disk or a saw blade (make sure the blade or disk has no wobble), and adjust the table so it sits s...

Re: forrest blade vs ?

Maybe someone should try to do a comprehensive test of a number of different blades comparing quality of cut, effort to push the wood through the blade, and any other things that might determine the difference between brands. I don't have a Forrest blade to compare to the blades I'm currently using ...

Re: old saw blades

Save the arbors, but I would scrap the blades. It costs more to sharpen an old blade than it costs to buy a new carbide blade. In this day and age, carbide blades are very cheap and they perform better than non-carbide blades. I consider saw blades a consumable product. Replace when needed. Right no...

Re: Rebuilding Mark V, GE 1-1/8 hp motor

The best and easiest place to look for a replacement centrifugal switch like that is your local electric motor repair shops. Ebay is useless to repair motors. Your skilled local repairmen are worth their weight in gold.

And, for you folks who don't have one in your shop, here is the order blank for a new Sawsmith 2000. The order blank is a bit outdated however.
