Chess Set
One of the first projects I built years ago was the chess set in a book I got with my shopsmith, but I can't remember which one. I need to make another set for a customer at work. Does anyone know what book I'm trying to think of? It's a turned set. Thanks for any help you might give. Paul

found broken parts
Finally got time to check the speed increasing issue on my 500. In all I found 3 parts, the retaining clip, which is broken, a small spring and a roll pin about 5/8 in long, doesn't look broken. I'm calling it a retaining clip but not sure its real name. I have replaced the belts before and remember...

speed increases on its own
Thanks for the info, guys. I'll try them and let you know what works. Just to clarify a little, the speed does seem to stay steady at slow speeds, but when I use the tablesaw it wants to speed up slowly not all at once. I've hooked a set of vice grips on the knob at the 6 oclock position and the wei...

speed increases on its own
Hi folks, I know I've seen this before but can't find it now. I have SS 500 (85), recently noticed the speed slowly increases on its own. Any ideas as to what needs fixing?
Thanks, Paul
Thanks, Paul

Jointer free spin?
Should the cutter head be able to free spin, when not hooked up to headstock? If I try to spin mine it just stops as soon as I take my hand off the shaft. Thanks for your input.

Serial#
Thanks Nick for the info, had a feeling the jointer was not a SS. and now that you mention it the screw thingy does look like part of a floor jack. Must have been mistakenly put in with the SS parts. A couple more questions, the serial# on the ER looks like ER20234 and when I looked it up it says it...

shopsmith jointer & what is it?
Bought a 10ER at a estate sale this weekend and these came with it. I know the first is a jointer, but is it a SS jointer? Year? The second I'm not sure what it is or if it goes with the 10ER, it's about 6 inch tall with threads most of the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just a suggesti...

Model ER
Hi, just bought a ER at a Estate sale and I was wondering if anyone knows if the motor would be interchangable with a SS 500 motor? Brought my 500 motor to work this week, to have sparky's check it out, it stopped running last week. Would like to keep the ER as a drill press, but may have to use the...
