The article says "According to SawStop, it now is the "number one" cabinet saw in North America. " I believe it. If it said just "table saw" that would include contractor type table saws like in the big box stores, but it specifically says "cabinet saw" and &q...

I own a Sawstop. When you touch the blade (with the power on and the saw not running) a red light blinks telling you that it would have activated. You can also get it to blink by putting your hands close to both sides of the blade and not touch it. So conductivity is not needed.

I have the One Way Talon chuck and the SS adaptor. I have used the chuck on the SS to turn some bowls and such as well as pens. I have no problem using the SS adaptor on the chuck. If anyone is interested, the part number for the One Way SS adaptor is 0260 and the last time I checked it was still a...

Ain't no nut on the end of a 500 carriage lock.:( The lock is identical to the headstock lock. Yes that is a tension(roll) pin securing the wing knob to the threaded shaft(left handed thread). The likely(happens often) cause of stiffness is the threads have become crudded up and are binding. The we...

The carriage on my shopsmith Mark V 500 was functioning properly as of recent, but then I noticed that the handle to tighten and loosen will not turn unless forced, but I don't want to do that. It is naturally in a loosened state, but I can't get it to move. Is there a way to take it apart. I see w...

Instead of drilled stop collars you can get 5/8 inch x 3-3/4 inch hubs made by Chicago Die Cast. Robot Market Place carries them.

I've done a little bandsaw sharpening. Alternating filing bevels seemed to work best. I didn't have a good way to improve the set of the teeth. Until I get desperate - I'll just get a new blade. If you like challenges sharpening is fun -- also is soldering up broken blades. SOLDERING bandsaw blades...

Gave it a try

I searched without seeing this here, but I have seen and read stuff on the net, including YouTube: does anyone have experience with bandsaw sharpening? Is it worth the trouble, i.e., does it work and does it stay sharp for a while. Or, once dulled does a bandsaw blade never really recover? I bought...

Peter:

Not to highjack this thread, but just one quick question. With the 8 inch pulley, will the coupling still have clearance on the upper aux shaft? When I measured, it seemed awfully close. I don't want to spend $25 for something that won't work for the bandsaw.
