SS# 150851- Does that mean its between 1973 and 1978?

No gears are stripped on the speed controll. I'm lubricating according to the SS links. It moves better and feel that may be all it needed. There is some slack that the worm gear has about 1/8-1/4" that it moves in an out like play in the part ...

Speed dial

Hi,
I bought a used SS Mark V. It only has one speed, FAST.
Maybe the previous owner turned the dial while not on?
Is there any way to fix this?
What happens when turning the speed dial while in off position?
