Re: Bandsaw Cast iron table won't lock

In comparing your instructions to the manual (oh yeah, I have that...) I'm a little confused. Their diagram looks like the washer should go between the casing and trunion, but your description (thanks for that! Very helpful!) Sounds like the washer goes on after the trunion. Which one is right?

Re: Bandsaw Cast iron table won't lock

Sorry I neglected to say I have already done that. I have all of the washers and they appear to me to be in the right order.

Bandsaw Cast iron table won't lock

I have one of the old bandsaws that has a cast iron table. Recently I have had problems getting the table to lock in place. Upon teardown and inspection it looks to me to be one of two issues causing this: 1. The bolt is worm away more than it should be (I think) 2. The "nut" it slides int...

Re: Gallery of Restorations

Man I've been looking forward to this! 3 years of slow but steady work (I was using it while restoring it). I'm especially proud of the red detail work on the dials and handles.

Re: Mark V 500 Rip Fence locking mechanism

Yeah mine is from the 80's (I don't recall exactly what year at the moment). It's good to know though that it shouldn't make that much of a difference in the long run. I guess as long as the fence still locks in place I have nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the information and advice!

Re: Mark V 500 Rip Fence locking mechanism

I've taken some photos of the fence now that I've had time to play with it. Based on the thread link provided I think either the part or the fence was not made properly. Based on the following two photos, which one looks correct? (I used some alen wrenches of different sizes to hold the part in place)

Re: Mark V 500 Rip Fence locking mechanism

Thanks for the link! It does provide some helpful info...but also what seems to me to be conflicting information. In some photos the L bracket sits flat against the end of the table, but in others it doesn't. I'm not sure which position is correct, but I'm starting to think mine may have been a manu...

Mark V 500 Rip Fence locking mechanism

I took a closer look at the tip Fence for my mark V 500 today and was surprised to discover that the non-handle end doesn't look like it locks to the table correctly. It could be just my understanding of how it's supposed to look but Im assuming the L bracket in the photo I've attached should fit ar...

Re: stuck mitre gauge!

The idea to use a screwdriver as a wedge worked! Thanks everyone! Now I only need to purchase a new screw which isn't too difficult (though it may be awhile before SS sends it to me).

Thanks for everyone's help!
