Re: Three Deminsional Eight Pointed Srar
Aha! Sometimes the old ways are the best ways! Thanks for the photo of your set up. Now I just have to figure out how to do the layout of those shapes... Very cool Moxon vise, by the way.

Re: Bing AI Chat Bot Shopsmith Poem
How about a sonnet from Chat GPT, generated in less than 5 seconds: Of all the tools a craftsman may own, There's one that stands above the rest, A true workhorse, with power to hone And shape and carve, and do his best. With Shopsmith at his fingertips, He'll turn a block of wood to gold, Or fashio...

Re: Help identifying shopsmith part
Looks like an old style hold down, designed to apply downward pressure on the workpiece. The curved end of the flat spring would bear on the upper surface of a board on the table. I have only seen pictures of these before, so I am not sure how it mounts. It did, I believe, the same job as the more f...

Re: Custom wall for Shopsmith 10er parts
An impressive collection of parts, and all nicely organized! Looks really good, and that level of "de-cluttering" in itself goes a long way towards ensuring the success of future projects.

Re: Way tube tie bar - How tight?
Slight pressure is not very specific, there's a point where it's tight enough to resist the forces that can shake the way tube assembly. And the tie bar does deform at that point, just a little, but it can be tightened and much more with much more deformation. Certainly there's no need to tighten i...

Re: Sanding Walnut
Ambitious project! Couple of other thoughts on the end grain 1) might try a light touch with a cabinet scraper and 2) might try reversing the bowl by chucking it on the outboard spindle and sand in that direction.

Re: How to Sharpen Stanley 28 /29 Corner Rounding Tools?
Very clever idea to use the tools themselves to create the correct shape for the sharpening tool. Also, I am impressed with how clearly your photographs show the process and the results. Question: did you do anything to the inside of the cutting edges? I am guessing that a few strokes with the sandp...

Re: How to Sharpen Stanley 28 /29 Corner Rounding Tools?
I think you are on the right track with the sandpaper idea. I would definitely try that first. You might also look for a slip stone. I have an old hard arkansas slip with two different radii that works well for the concave inner surfaces of gouges and something like that could also work for your rou...
