Bill; The new tires arrived and the replacement blades too! I am "cooking" the tires now. After a few more minutes I will have them both on. I've never had a difficult time putting these on, but I will check out the Blue max tires. Thanks for the heads up.

The hole through on the opposiste side was not even close to center. With the bit firmly chucked, set-up checked for accuracy and securely tightened, what caused the bit to wonder off course?


I believe the far end would be higher that the start of the hole. The table has a bit of flex in it ...

After I tuned my bandsaw it gives excellent performance, but I recently wanted to do some short radius cuts, so I switched to my 1/8" blade. It immediately ran off the front of the wheels. A cross-cut sled is high on my list of shop projects, but I haven't made one yet.

Have you watched The Wood Whisperer's video on making a cross-cut sled? I found it pretty informative - especially regarding how to make sure the fence is square to the blade (the "5-cut squaring method").

For a turning project I wanted to rip 60 degree miters on some strips of wood about 2 inches wide, 1 inch thick and 7 inches long. Couldn't figure out how to safely do it on the Shopsmith. Any suggestions? Has anyone built a jig for this sort of situation?
