Re: Craigslist find = New project 10ER

Russ/JPG - I agree, it may not be a good idea to start a "Sticky" just for Q&A. I finally got my order from SS yesterday after almost 2 weeks! Not sure why it took so long, but I now have everything I need to put the jointer back together. I ended up ordering the guard spring+washers t...

Re: Craigslist find = New project 10ER

So now we need a thread for 'casual "restorers"'? Only use electrolysis or evaporust to remove rust. Minimize use of abrasives. Think of them as polishing thingies. Only use a hammer after ALL other alternatives have been unsuccessful. Only rarely use a hammer to tap something during reas...

Re: Craigslist find = New project 10ER

Motor update - After all that research I ended up ordering replacement bearings from Grainger. Here is what I ordered based on my research. https://www.grainger.com/product/SKF-Radial-Ball-Bearing-23Y205? Does any have a photo of the motor shaft with the bearings? or know if the bottom (short end of...

Re: Craigslist find = New project 10ER

Thanks for the info on the jointer!

You guys need to make a Dos and Don'ts post to share all your knowledge with the casual woodworker.

Re: Craigslist find = New project 10ER

That's good to know. I will add the bearings to my list of things to buy from SS (still need to order the missing shaper clamp and thinking of buying the drill press vise) I'm also missing the jointer guard spring and the washers that go with it. The current part numbers are 514196, 502909, and 5142...
