Making it more difficult to put back on. At least the new ones come with a window and a hole for adjusting tension.

Re: Lower bandsaw wheel bearing lack of resistance

Is that supposed to be a change for safety reasons, or just saving on the price of knobs? As long as the saw can be run without the cover on it's not doing much for safety.

Re: Identify Model

That's a 10E or 10ER. The middle pulley is there because it has a speed changer. That adds something to it's value. If you can find a nameplate it will have more info on the specific model and the serial number can determine when it was made. It's not just pre-70s, it's 50s or 40s. This thread may h...

Re: Lower bandsaw wheel bearing lack of resistance

I'd love to be wrong, but posts by Nick Engler and Bill Mayo say it borders on the impossible to change the bearing: I see what you mean now. Water pump bearings can't be disassembled. The shaft is the inner race. You would have to replace the entire water pump bearing. Bill also mentions problems ...

Re: Lower bandsaw wheel bearing lack of resistance

Given that the water pump bearing is supposed to be near impossible to replace at home, I'm taking your advice! -- Paul Is it difficult? If it has the water pump bearing it should be held in place with a retaining clip, #31 in the diagram. I haven't replaced a lower wheel on the bandsaw but it's th...

Re: New Shopsmith Website is Up and Running Today!

Sorry, I wasn't aware this was happening. It looks like cookies (which keep login information) were setup wrong (using shopsmith.com instead of forum.shopsmith.com) at some point in the past. I have now corrected them. Let me know if there are still issues. Nothing has changed. I think I created a ...

Re: Looking for jointer manual (Jointer "C" , model 555483)

That's the current joiner model. Don't know why joiner manuals aren't available to download or even buy from their website. The exploded diagram in the parts page should match your machine.

Anything in particular you need to find out about?
