Is that supposed to be a change for safety reasons, or just saving on the price of knobs? As long as the saw can be run without the cover on it's not doing much for safety.

That's a 10E or 10ER. The middle pulley is there because it has a speed changer. That adds something to it's value. That's the current joiner model. Don't know why joiner manuals aren't available to download or even buy from their website. The exploded diagram in the parts page should match your machine.

Anything in particular you need to find out about?
