I'm trying to make an SPT cart. To hold each SPT, I've stacked 2x4s and drilled 1 1/4" holes. I can't get the hole spacing right so it's too snug for the mounting tubes. Is there a trick to drilling the hole spacing just right? I'm using a portable drill and a 1 1/4 spade bit.

I'm so glad to hear the SPTs will work. It sounds like I didn't waste my money and maybe my wife won't yell at me. It seems like every part of the Total Shop is significantly more heavy than the SS.

I believe this is red in color, but isn't cedar red in color as well? It does not look like it's yellow. As soon as I cut it, I smelled it but there was no smell. The deck was built in 1982 so the wood has been on there for a long time.

My mom is having her deck rebuilt and they plan on tossing all the old lumber. I've heard of people saving old deck wood because sometimes it's made out of redwood. I think this is pine but I'm not sure.
