Re: Cart for Special Purpose Tools
Y'all are great. Thanks for the tips. I'm glad to know others have experienced this. I can't wait for this weekend. If I finish, pictures will follow.

Re: Cart for Special Purpose Tools
I'm trying to make an SPT cart. To hold each SPT, I've stacked 2x4s and drilled 1 1/4" holes. I can't get the hole spacing right so it's too snug for the mounting tubes. Is there a trick to drilling the hole spacing just right? I'm using a portable drill and a 1 1/4 spade bit.

Re: Total Shop. Total oops?
The ad showed and said shopsmith. He installed a shopsmith speed dial (probably because the Total Shop broke at some point) and had a shopsmith speed reducer attached. He started loading immediately and i didn't see the TS logo until we moved the main unit. I asked him if they were the same and he ...

Re: Total Shop. Total oops?
Thanks for responding!
I'm so glad to hear the SPTs will work. It sounds like I didn't waste my money and maybe my wife won't yell at me. It seems like every part of the Total Shop is significantly more heavy than the SS.
The speed control is broken on the TS.
Are the SPT parts interchangeable ...

Total Shop. Total oops?
Hey everyone, I own a shopsmith 510. I was looking on CL for some SPTs and I came across a deal to good to be true. It was. I now own a rough Total Shop and 5 SPTs. Will they fit a SS or did I just waste $400 and an evening.

Thanks everyone! I stopped by woodcraft but I completely forgot about the local hardwood stores. The folks at woodcraft were split on redwood vs pine. It was funny that everyone I gave it to, smelled it first!

What type of wood is this?
My mom is having her deck rebuilt and they plan on tossing all the old lumber. I've heard of people saving old deck wood because sometimes it's made out of redwood. I think this is pine but I'm not sure.
Do You know what type of wood this is? Is it worth saving? Also, I don't have a planer or a ...

I will post pics this weekend. I'm using a 510. The mis alignment I have experienced is big enough to see without any measuring device. The floating table sits lower than the main table. Also, the floating table is not parallel to the main table no matter how I turn the support tubes or what order I ...
