Re: Shopsmith ER

Chip - I’d check local Craigslist listings to see what people are asking local to you. I see a ton of these listed for $300-500, and frankly they never appear to sell, while those listed for $100 or less generally attract interest. I saw a fellow on Facebook recently who sold his gorgeously restored...

Re: Selling old shop smith: seeking help on how much and where

All great advice you’re getting from the group here. I would add that the price you may command will be very dependent on the sorts of accessories that are included. Are you talking bandsaw/jointer/belt sander/jigsaw type accessories, or are you talking lots of saw blades, arbors, sanding and other ...

Re: Selling Shopsmith 10E

Just wanted to jump into the discussion. Although not on the same scale as Russ, I do restorations and preservations of these machines, and being here in New England, I’m a little more local to you than Russ! I just finished a 10-E project, and would be interested in discussing acquiring your machin...

Re: Help. What Are These Parts That Came With My SS 10E?

Joel - I’m a little late to the party on this thread, but I recall unraveling a similar pile of parts on my recent 10-E restoration, and was also perplexed with the washers you show attached to #11 in your original photo. Turns out, those go underneath the wing nuts that attach the extension table a...

Re: Attach cast iron shop smith jigsaw to 10ER

Based on how you describe attaching it, I assume you’re talking about the standard [aluminum] model A-34 jigsaw that was designed for use with the 10-ER, and not one of the later Mark 5-compatible [steel] Model 610 jigsaws? That is a great job! Much more functional vacuum port than the original.

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

If someone wanted to make a lower belt guard it wouldn't be hard. Doug Smith over at the 10-ER Facebook group has an awesome array of 3D printed add-on designs. Belt guards, sanding disc dust extractors, aux hub extensions for power mount adapters, saw guards - he’s even printed up some casting rep...

Re: I Just Purchased 10E Number 143

The fact that the motor runs so well after 75 years makes me wonder if it was rebuilt at some point. I have the same AO Smith motor on the 10-E I recently restored - it’s only 74 years old of course, but also runs great after a quick blowout of the accumulated sawdust. No prior rebuild on mine - ju...

I will, for sure! Looking forward to getting the Power Mount Adapter Kit restored and added back to the machine. I’ll be running some of my vintage greenie SPTs on it at that point!
