Thanks, everyone. Yes, the old wheels scrubbed also. I will look into adding a washer or two, 1/8 or less should do it.
Its not terrible, just annoying!
I appreciate the help!

Wheel upgrade issue
I recently did the wheel upgrade on my SS 500, drilled exactly by the template and the provided metal guide. But, my garage floor is done in 60's style "not very smooth" concrete, and even with the new wheels, the metal legs hit or scrub on certain spots. I need to "micro adjust"...

Re: PowerPro Lift-Assist work on a regular Headstock Shopsmith?
Shopsmith offers two different cylinders but I would not hesitate to utilize a stronger cylinder. I you did that you would want to make certain that the headstock and carriage were not full left when you unlock the headrest lock. If you do, it may raise the tubes a bit faster than you want bit that...

PowerPro Lift-Assist work on a regular Headstock Shopsmith?
I found a great deal on a Lift-Assist for the PowerPro headstock Shopsmiths. Mine is not a PowerPro.
My thinking is that the only difference is the hydraulic cylinder. If, so "too easy to lift" shouldn't be a problem.
Any thoughts recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Re: 1984 Shopsmith 500 jigsaw question
Yes, part 50 oil seal (substitute) is the one I ordered. Hopefully National Seal part number 314267N will work. I'll update as soon as I get the part and get back to the repair.
I also removed and checked the shaft and it didn't seem to be bent.
Thanks,
jerry

Re: 1984 Shopsmith 500 jigsaw question
Okay, so I got busy building a shelf for my Shopsmith and didn't take a picture of the crankcase of the Jigsaw. So, I borrowed and image from the forum, and marked the bushing or sleeve I was talking about. There were two in the upper part where the arrow is pointing, with a gap between the two. $ma...

Re: 1984 Shopsmith 500 jigsaw question
Seems to be on the upstroke. I can take a picture or two this evening.Spooner wrote:Can you get pictures and post them by chance?
When it binds... is it on the upward stroke or the downward stroke?
I'm thinking I should be able to turn it by hand and have not hooked it to the power head.

1984 Shopsmith 500 jigsaw question
Greetings, We recently purchased a ShopSmith model 500 with many accessories and all work except the jigsaw . The drive seemed to be in a bind. I took the drive apart and the yoke is okay and the shaft did not seem to be bent. I noticed in the top portion where the shaft moves up and down, there wer...
