Intro & first question: bevels on wide stock
Now that I have a Shopsmith Mark V 520, I thought I'd introduce myself proper like. But first, is there a secret handshake or something? Just kidding! My name is Patrick Demets, currently from Calgary, Canada. I'm relatively new to woodworking, though I've smelled sawdust from a very early age. My f...

There is NO DIFFERENCE in the headstock between a 500,505,510 or a 520, all in the same era. Hi Beeg, Maybe I'm not using the right terminology. Just by looking at the front part of the headstock (where the speed control is), can one tell from a picture what model it is? The 520 is most definitely ...

Thank you Dusty and Chuck for that very helpful information. I'm looking at a lot of pictures from kijiji postings. Thanks for the replies. Since I've started looking seriously, here in Calgary I found a few very decent looking ones (from pics, haven't gone in person) but quite costly. One 520 in particular, with planer and in very good condition, is going for $1900. Seems quite steep to me. Another, looks like a...

Rough cost of used Mark V 520?
Hello, newbie here. I plan to read through the whole forum, but I have a pressing question first: Roughly how much should I expect to pay for a used Mark V 520 in good condition, with the basic configuration (I expect higher price if other equipment/attachments are included)? I'm not considering tho...
