Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
Here’s an update on Uncle Larry’s Greenie that I inherited. The last that I reported before the server went down, was that I had broken the trunnion on the saw table. I found a replacement on eBay, ordered it, and it arrived yesterday. While I was waiting for it to arrive, I opened the headstock of ...

In my opinion...
Hi everyone, this is Danny from Missouri. I’m new to Shopsmith and have a few posts on your Maintenance forum about a Greenie that I inherited. But I have been making sawdust (and burning 7018 rods) for many years and want to offer my opinion on other tools out there. Over the years I have collected...

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
Thanks Russ for your wisdom. Unfortunately I got a little impatient. Several years ago when I had an antique airplane, I did a lot of maintenance under the guidance of an A&P who was an Army helicopter mechanic. He had a favorite saying that I can't quite remember but it was something like, &quo...

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
The trunnion lock and everything else has been disassembled and removed. The only thing left is the part C2993 front trunnion attached to the 203100 tie bar assembly, attached by the pivot pin. The pin is seized and won't let go. I thought about adding heat to the pin to release it, but I will proba...

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
OK, I have another question for those of you who are familiar with Shopsmith. I’m having a lot of trouble freeing up the saw table tilt. By looking at the illustration on page 7 of the Summary Manual PDF, it appears that I have a model 500 because there is a trunnion on only one side. The problem is...

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
I have had some time the last few days to tinker and get to know my Greenie. I want to learn all the functions and get everything moving and sliding before I tear down the headstock. In my process of moving things, I discovered a new product and would like your opinion of it. I found WD 40 Rust Rele...

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
Thanks for the replies. It's starting to make sense to me, I'm new to Shopsmith. I've been using a 10" table saw for many years and my rip fence is limited to 24". It's good to know that I can go much wider with the SS. It will take a while, but I'll get there. THANKS!

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
Well, its been a few days, or more, but I finally got a chance to go to the basement and take another look at my new Greenie... getting familiar with it. As I went through the boxes of accessories and parts I discovered that I had an extra saw table. The one in the box appears to have never been use...

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
Oh, Russ, by the way, those caster wheels on the machine you restored... are they original? Mine does not have them. Is there somewhere I could buy them?

Re: I also inherited an old Greenie
WOW! That's a good looking machine! You have given me confidence because what I'm starting with is in pretty good shape. I think I can make it run well and look well. I want to do that because it belonged to family. I already have many wood and metal working machines, so I don't need to make it a pr...
