Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

Also, keep in mind, the closer the wheel axle is to the swivel rotation axis the stronger the wheel will be, and better able to support the added weight. It will also have less bending moment on the stem and less likely to crack the stem bushing (piston thing) which is already under designed in my o...

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

Now back the the piston.frame clearance, Reducing that clearance to something closer to 1/16" or less will decrease the amount of added height to the foot. Mike's wheels have bearings, so the stem does not need to rotate in the bore. He can effectively bottom out that gap completely, and shim ...

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

What do you think of the rest of the design if I need to go that way? I know your question is directed to JPG, but I would avoid cutting your frame rails if at all possible. I would consider reducing the wheel diameter in combination with shortening the stem and moving the wheel axle location close...

. . .am trying this https://www.casterdepot.com/shepherd/c0020273zn-pol01-kk?_vsrefdom=www.google.com That looks like a very good selection as it appears the "swivel rotation" is close to 3/8". Yes, please report back if they swivel without interference. I may get a set myself. Mike -

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

. . . still figuring out if the caster is going to work . . . Mike, I had some issues with casters on my Mark VII. I originally didn't have any, but after a year of watching ebay I found a complete set. The problem for me was the wheels that came with the set would hit the inside area of the frame ...

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

LOL. I buy the snake slitherin around but not so sure about snails walkin on hair. Thank you either way:-) Well I looked it up and they do not use cilia to move. Instead they use slime and a funky foot muscle movement. With a little luck the snail should arrive today. LOL, gotta love this place. Mi...

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

. . . No key, was gonna file down something and maybe see if it will work. I knew this key set up and all the awkward wiring were gonna be the biggest head ache for sure. So slow and steady, steady and slow be the way I go... Well, you can cross the interlock plate off the list. Done and fit tested...

. . . MIKEN thee does good work with a ''German" Milling Machine* . . . * file Thanks JPG, yes, the only real milling on this was splitting the steel in half two ways to create the offset, and the slotted hole. The rest was good ol' fashioned hack saw and files. Thanks for noticing. Mike -

Re: Mark VII a start and a long ways to go..

The parts that attach to the lock that provide interlocking of the switch between fwd and rev. MVII lock attachments.jpg Well no, he doesn’t have that part but I’m 80% there so will keep looking. Worse case I’ll try and make one. This has proved to be a much more difficult adventure than I anticipa...
