Mark VII wood lathe chuck

I'm new to woodworking and I want to start turning wood bowls on my SS VII. I am not sure what type of wood chuck I need that will work. Currently my SS has a 5/8 shaft with no threads. Do I need an adapter or something else? What type of wood chuck is best? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Somewhere I read to put a thin washer on the stud that holds the control knob so it would put more pressure on the 2 spring-loaded bullets. This seems to be working. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me. Much appreciated!!!

After reading several posts on this site, I removed and cleaned the backside of the Control knob. After reinstalling the control knob...

I bought a Shopsmith on auction and not realizing that a Mark VII is not considered a real Shopsmith. It is somewhat incomplete, mainly the variable drive system. I understand from some searching that any repairs are hard to find. I need suggestions as to how to proceed. Will any Shopsmith parts fo...
