Re: bevel cut problems
Thanks for all the ideas and support. The metier gauge's hold-down might be slipping and I do not know how to get a better grip other than more force on tightening knob. I noticed today, when making cross cuts on the other half of the resawed board, that the metier gauge's hold-down needed readjustm...

bevel cut problems
I am trying to make boxes that will slide over Kleenex boxes. The plans call for the four sides to be 1/4" X 5" X 5 1/4" and there is a 5" X 5" top. I will attach scroll saw overlay pieces to the box sides. The plans use metier joints between the side faces. I resawed a 30&q...

Re: Sticky table tilt
Thanks for suggestions. My solution was was basically as algale suggests without the dial indicator to help. That is I visually over corrected and, luckily, got a good alignment. I have made about 40 20" rip cuts with no problems. With such short passes I have not really verified the alignment,...

Re: Sticky table tilt
Boy I lack confidence when it comes to alignments. I tried a couple of times to finish my alignment of the ss MK V 510. That is what I was up to when the sticky table tilt became an issue. I still have table alignment to do, but need to order a shim kit next time I make an order, When I did the rip ...

Re: Sticky table tilt
Got back to aligning today. With dollar bill in place tightened the 2 bolts i had loosened, after checking that metier track was parallel to saw blade. I then loosened the table tilt lock and retrieved my dollar. Tilting much better, can only imagine how good it would work if I'd had a twenty. I hav...

Re: Sticky table tilt
Thanks for link. I am guessing previous owner was too cheap to use the spacer. Was not going to change the table alignment, but loosening 2 near side bolts will probably mean it needs it. Thanks for help. will let you know how it went when table alignment is done.
Thanks again,
Sam

Sticky table tilt
Hi, doing some alignment on my MK V 510. The table needs considerable force to start moving from 90 (like drill press mode). lock is wide open, but there is a lot of drag once it starts moving. Are there surfaces that need wax? I expect some drag is good for locking, but mine sticks to were I cannot...

Why did I stop woodworking for years?
I was an active member of this forum for a few years as a newbe. Then not. The problem was that I go a second SS, but mo plan on moving to a bigger space, After most of a year working in 2 areas of my basement with tools scattered around I gave up in frustration. No more WW till I moved into bigger ...
