Re: SS Planer

James Don G Check the pulley on the cutter head. Since it is under the belt cover it is sight unseen. The set screw on mine worked loose at one point and the pulley rubbing. Same thing happened to the one I picked up. Original pulleys were made of really soft metal and the new kit with black painte...

Re: SS planer replacement knives

There is one replacement option other than the "mothership", but it will set you back the price of about 5 sets of blades. I'm curious if anyone has gone the route of replacing the cutter head with a spiral replacement head?

Re: Infinity Tools Laser Thin Kerf Saw Blade

I've been using a Total Saw Solution Micro Kerf blade. It claims that it is also 1/16" of an inch, but instead of cutting the width of a penny, it cuts the width of a dime. It's an expensive blade too, but I paid no where near retail for it. It's very interesting to use, the sound it makes is v...

Re: Another 10er Craigslist question

Truthfully, it looks in decent condition and someone said it has the all-important speed changer, but 10e and 10er seem to come around quite frequently and if you are patient you should be able to find one for a bit less if you want.

Re: Pro Planer Pulley Replacement

Just a quick follow this issue. I ended up proceeding with the upgrade and not worrying about the slightly offset screw hole. I've run the planer for about an hour and everything seems good. Especially, since I installed a new set of knives. If I have one complaint, I'm using a DC3300 for due collec...

Re: Switch Lock

I think in one of the recent sales emails the tip they had was to get one of those luggage padlocks and put it through the hole on the prongs of the power cord instead. Of course, you may be talking about the size of padlock that could be defeated with a small hammer.

Re: Today in the shop (FLEX ABILITY)

Good call on the wire tie. I used the larger connection with my DeWalt ROS and it kept falling off when the hose was stretched. I like the idea of the kit, but I do wonder about the durability of the hose after removing and switching connectors many times. Not sure why they didn't decide to put a so...

Re: Pro Planer Pulley Replacement

I take it the set screw pushes down on the key, which keeps the pulley from rotating and sliding off the shaft. I ended up replacing the key with this change over since the old key had several set screw marks and it was loose enough to fall on the floor and get lost. The new key was tight and needed...

Pro Planer Pulley Replacement

Just ordered the brand new Pro Planner pulley upgrade kit to replace an old aluminum pulley that had stripped out the set screw threads and began to rotate on the shaft. The newer steel pulley feels a bit more solid, however the set screw appears to be drilled slightly askew. This is a pre-1991 with...

Re: Today in the shop (FLEX ABILITY)

Thanks for sharing your review. Been thinking this looks promising, but the price was making me hold back. Nice to know the hose expands in lenght too, I never got that impression from Rockler's catalog.

I think I know what I will be picking up this Friday.
