I recently complemented one of my direct reports on the "zeal" with which he attacked his latest work assignment, he looked at me with wrinkled brow, what does zeal mean, was his response. Bachelors degree in civil engineering.

I have to agree, the decline not only spelling but syntax is shocking. I was a "C+" student and things around our office have gotten such that errors are prevalent to even my eyes.
