Please also perform the fence alignment as Dusty suggested. I was having this problem as well as burning wood during cuts and found I was using excessive force to rip material (excessive force with any tool is always dangerous).
Aligning the fence did wonders!! Now I always have clean easy cuts ...

table saw squeals and blade stops when ripping wood
When I am ripping wood using the table saw the headstock squeals and the blade stops.
This was a gradual thing.
It seems like the belt is slipping when under a load...and then the saw blade stops turning.
Would putting on a new drive belt fix this.
