Re: BREAKING NEWS: Shopsmith, Inc. Has A New Owner

I'm glad to see Shopsmith sold to an enthusiastic new owner. Let's face it, it was going to happen someday. And it seems on the surface, for now, that Nick Cupps is the best we, as owners, could hope for. And I think it was something akin to divine providence that the 75th owners' meeting fell durin...

Re: Magna Jigsaw Question

This post was a life saver to me this week. My jigsaw developed a huge leak and I needed to replace this seal to keep some Christmas crafts going. As jjrausch suggested I ordered the SKF 4912 seal form Grainger. Installed it and works beautifully, no more leaks so far. I make a video about the proce...

Felt Dust Collector Filter Bag - Resources

Since the DC3300 and DC6000 come with felt filter hoods, I thought this group might be interested in some resources provided by American Filter Fabric. A lot of good info on how modern cloth hoods work and perform in comparison to older woven filter hoods. https://americanfabricfilter.com/resources/

So, you don't need a more powerful motor because you switched to HEPA in my opinion. If all of your assumptions are true, then of course you are correct. But, I checked some numbers on the Wynn website that might surprise you. These are the filters Wynn's online selection tool recommends for a 14 i...

Re: woodshop nerdery youtube channel

So, the assumption here is that HEPA filters have identical filter area again when this is often not true. Yep, I made the assumption and clearly stated that assumption in my text for the sake of highlighting a very important point. That is, that particle filtration efficiency impacts air flow rate...

Re: woodshop nerdery youtube channel

I must have missed something. If the pleated cartridge filter has many times the surface area of a bag, why would you need a larger blower motor? Why would a cyclone separator be required? Wouldn't the large pieces fall into the bag on the bottom? Looking at https://wynnenv.com/, I don't see anythi...

Re: Solved! The Most Infuriating Router Problem.

Nick shows you exactly what to do, and it's not want you think. The editor of this video deserves some credit. The end card mentions, on all their videos, Travis Blair. And I think Travis does some of the responding to comments as well. If this one was spliced together by Travis, then kudos to him!

Re: woodshop nerdery youtube channel

I have done similar tests myself in the past. Sometimes outdoor air is cleaner than in my shop and other times it is the opposite. Bottomline is it depends on where you live because outdoor air pollution in this particulate size includes smog, diesel exhaust, tobacco smoke, soot, etc. It also varies...

Re: woodshop nerdery youtube channel

Interesting video. More small 0.3 micron particles outside in fresh air than when using the belt sander insider connected to an underpowered dust collector with a 2.5 micron filter bag and a homemade ambient air cleaner. I would have thought the inside air would have been worse. Makes me wonder whe...
