Beeg is on to something. Your old Firefox profile was probably incompatible with the new Firefox so you probably landed in a new profile with the old one still there on your hard drive for you to fish out of the right directory to manually recover whatever you like from it.

If you install the google+ app on your phone it can auto sync all of your photos as you take them and save you some time and a step.

You only need to tell who to share them when you get the notification that they are ready to be shared.

Having them in google plus also makes it easy to participate ...

Not being a well experienced 'turner' myself I must ask if the use of a skew as demonstrated in the last video prior to the workpiece being 'round' is either typical or a reasonable thing to do. I usually get it round with a gouge before reaching for a skew.

Two new magic wands up next, and this time i started with the idea to make them from the start.

As a followup, I opened up the bag that I was letting the mallet dry in since i cut it out of very green wood...

What would be the most accurate way to make 1 3/16 OD x 12" dowel rod on the lathe? I need it to fit precisely, but slide thru an aluminum bore 1 3/16" x 2" through its entire 12" length.


Seems to me that if you had an aluminum pipe of the same bore, you could grind saw like teeth I one end and ...

I am still editing the video of the large mallet, but I put another teaser photo at the end of the above video.

The mallet is now done, photos and video to come as well... mistakes and all (and there were a lot of mistakes -- I'm not even yet sure how to use the skew chisel correctly on something like this -- though it worked well for my magic wand, so I had to fix mistakes from each time I tried).

Close! It's going to be a big fat mallet. I think I may bandsaw off the waste first though, so that I can use it for other projects rather than just a bag of shavings. Also, this is green wood, so it should be interesting to see how it deforms ...
