That's exactly the issue. If I stop frequently and poke around on the filter bag I can knock the shavings down into the bag. But, as soon as I turn it on, you can see the turbulence pushing them back up into the filter bag, where they pack up on top of the motor housing and the impellor.

I think I have the owner's manual. I'll see if I can track down a date. Having lived with both of them for a couple years, I don't consider the change an "upgrade". I'm a little surprised at the lack of recognition. First design must have only lasted a couple years.

There are no detents to locate the angle of the mortise. In the owner's manual we show the procedure to use a square against the key that turns the template.

I'll share this with the product engineer tomorrow and report back. Other than possibly being just a little too thick, I think it is going to work.
