Thanks for the info Guys some real wisdom there.
I do have a good power supply setup in the works but I'll be turning it down while I'm still on an extension chord.
I always turn it down when I finish a session but just in case I'll be mounting a sign.
Once again thanks. The=is is the best forum I ...

Power up speed

Prior to buying my Shopsmith I had read a couple of reviews that admittedly were a bit critical. They didn't like the Shopsmith because, they said, the operating instructions said that the speed control must be turned to it's lowest setting before turning off the power and then brought back up to ...

What finish did you put (or just bare wood with the cedar)?
I didn't finish them. they were a gift and I let them choose whatever finish they want.

So I finally got to do some work on my own stuff.
A friends daughter was getting married so we gave the couple a pair of 'Muskoka chairs' or perhaps you'll know them as 'Adirondack Chairs'.
I had to use the band saw attachment so that took a couple of weeks to get it set up. The previous owner didn ...

At this point my son decided it would be cool for Dad to help him make some shelf units on the new Shopsmith. Three more weekends used up.

They came out ok and I got some rust out at his expense.
I found out I don't like that i have to reset the fence with a tape every time and was beginning to ...

Hi folks,
I got my Shopsmith a while back, August 2012, and intended to get on the forum here regularly but time seems to disappear on me so now that the cold weather has chased me from my garage/shop for a while I thought I'd catch up.

I bought a 510 model used and it came with 7 boxes of 'stuff ...

A hand saw story

My Dad was a real sticker for making sure his hand saws were clean and sharp. He made sure I learned how to sharpen them and always maintained he could cut a plank faster with his hand saw than I could with by carbide tips. He was right but he spent 50 years as a carpenter and always had a hand saw ...

Home at last

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say Hi.
My Name is Wayne and I live in Guelph Ontario.
My wife and I just moved into a new home last week. One of the "must haves" when we were looking was a garage big enough that I can have a shop. It's been a while. The house is a mess with boxes waiting to be unpacked ...
