Re: Largest realistic drill size when drilling metal??

Depends some on the thickness of the metal. If sheet metal or steel under about 1/8" thick, try a unibit step drill--up to 1" in diameter. But be sure to clamp the metal. Hard to hold by hand from spinning. Harbor Freight sells a set of three for a good price.

Re: Online Military Exchange Shopping for All Veterans

I did the sign up and because (I assume) I'm already 100% VA disabled; can shop right now. But the bummer is I checked pricing and find at least on one camera Nikon Coolpix B500 16MP Digital Camera with Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth - Red is $267.99. Same camera at Amazon is $256.95. So for now not co...

Power Workshop

Got an email this morning about this. Watched the video. Pretty neat battery powered tools that become drill press, table saw, & jig saw. Anyone here have one or knowledge of one? $675 on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/POWER8-Workshop-Full-lithium-Kit-cordless-drill-jig-saw-work-clamp-torch-quattr...

Re: Why square nuts?

I put nylock hex nuts on every where; when I overhauled my machines and had them apart for painting.

I use drill bits for plastic. The tip is ground at a much sharper angle.

I recently bought the same blade, for a cut I had to make with my handsaw. Did an excellent job, with no splintering in the laminate.

Locktiting the set sounds like a good idea. The old clamp always seemed a bit more work to use than I wanted, so hardly used it myself. Here's what the newer one looks like. Unthreaded rod with a foot riveted on, and a clamp shaped piece to slide over the newer straight sided lever arm. And a clampi...

Miter Gauge Retro Kit

Recently bought another Shopsmith. This time a 510. One of the differences between it and my older Mark 5's was the miter gauge clamp. This may have been mentioned somewhere on the forum, but thought I'd add it anyway. The old one has two knurled nuts to adjust the clamp. The new one has a single kn...
