I guess I will hold off on it. I shouldn't need the adapter after I get the SS chuck and centers. Even the pen mandrel from pen state will work on the shopsmith headstock.

I will only be using the chuck for crude aluminum drilling and such so don't want anything too much. Another big reason I decided on that one is it looks like it comes with the adapter!

Pics to clarify

Just wanted to post some pics to be on the safe side.

So I guess I am missing something so glad for the backup! The centers I see are all tapered with a shaft and then the "head" if you will that goes into the wood. So how do these to shafts mate?

My buddy said the tailstock has a #1 Morse taper.... hes a "fun" guy. Anyways how can I be sure?

Bill what about on the chuck side? What kills me is I don't know the terminology! I sure can fix any part of a car but this is like a new art thats hidden!

Well that clears the chuck up! Thanks guys.

What about the centers? One goes into the chuck the other a #1 in the tailstock?
