This mystery sanding drum requires 1 3/4" diameter x 2 3/4" long rubber mounting sleeves and probably 2" diameter (possibly 2 1/4" diam) sanding sleeves.

Thanks !

Did Shopsmith or Magna have 2 different sizes of sanding drums ?

I purchased a bare sanding drum said to be from a Shopsmith ER. It has a 5/8" boss like mine and tensions both drum halves against a rubber sleeve like mine does, but it turns out it is about 1/2" smaller in diameter and regular rubber sleeves and drum sanding cylinders are too big to fit....

Thanks charlese, I didn't want to remove plugs without being sure 1st. :) I'll have a peek inside the housing for a structural assessment. :D I'd love to hear your impressions on brass turning jobs. I've cut aluminum and brass on the band saw but that's about it so far. No milling work yet. Why use ...

Has anyone disassembled or rebuilt a Mk5 speed reducer ?

Nothing wrong with my reducer at this point, I'm just wondering if anyone has disassembled one for inspection or repair. Can anyone tell me if the 4 small black inspection covers on the back housing can be removed somehow ? At this point I'm mainly curious about whether the output shaft can withstan...

Can anyone tell me what the tube spacing is for 10ER tubes ?
MK5 ways are spaced 7" apart (center to center) and wondered if 10ER spacing is the same or a bit different ?

A new product suggestion forum... parts compatibility forum

Might be nice to have a sub forum to outline compatibility of various components between machines (10ER, Mk2, MK5 500-510-520, MK7, MK VII) if it hasn't been mentioned already, something new users often struggle with (on eBay at least) if doing so isn't a conflict of interest with SS sales dept. The...

I see cast bandsaw right side housings all time time on eBay but left side plastic covers rarely seem to be available there  hmmmm.

I would rather not return it if repairable, because of high shipping costs.

Are bandsaw plastic left covers available used anywhere ?

Are SS bandsaw plastic left side covers available used anywhere ? If yes, how much do they sell for usually ? Recently bought a bandsaw off eBay and was very disappointed on arrival to find the left side plastic cover completely destroyed. Thank you to the seller for not even caring enough to pad th...

How much side play is normal where miter hold down rod meets material ?

I seem to have a lot of side play where the miter hold down rod meets the board I am cutting. It's not obvious when board is under tension, but prior to clamping down there is about 1/4 inch of side play at the rod end. Play originates mostly where the lock guide #264 clamps onto the lock lever at t...
