Re: Near miss: foolish mistake
I sometimes think we should have a thread entitled "Stupid things I've done." Mine would be a very similar story to yours, except it involved a dado blade taking chunks out of the Shopsmith Push Block (the one with the rubber pad). I cringe every time I think of what would've happened if ...

Re: SS (Magna) bandsaw blade size tolerance
Thanks folks. I can find 72 1/2" for a fair price on Amazon and a couple of local stores. Fortunately me being dumb (freehanding biscuits from a log, I've made and use a sled now) didn't result in an injury or any other damage to the bandsaw other than the blade.

SS (Magna) bandsaw blade size tolerance
Anybody have any experience using blades +/- 72" on their SS? With inventory issues at local shops, crazy shipping charges/loopy shipping times I've been tempted by some "off" size offerings on Amazon at good prices with next day shipping should I suffer another blade mishap and need ...

Re: ??? about headstock castings Aluminum or pot metal?
I realize this is old and the source not necessarily gospel but clipped a snippet of a write up on Tool-Hunter.com about clones of the MK5 that were in production for a while. Also the ambiguity regarding "modern" MKV leaves the question open as to what the others are made from. "Oh, ...

Re: Bad morning. Looking for fair CDA SS parts reseller.
Saddest thing is the drill press/band saw were of most immediate value to me. To be fair the tire was probably original 1950s. I can accept that. The subsequent failure was at the drive end where the wood drive shaft entered the printed hub adapter. The wood drive shaft corners sheared off (good) an...

Bad morning. Looking for fair CDA SS parts reseller.
After pursuing a power coupler solution on this board I wound up ordering "Power Coupler Square Dowel" from stius76 on Ebay (shipment was received incomplete). First time powering up my Magna 610/620/630 since getting them. The jigsaw and jointer ran without a hitch. The bandsaw ran fine c...

Old saw table on newer carriage?
I bought a Greenie for a second SS I intend on shortening the tubes by a third to dedicate it to drill press/drive 11" band saw. It had the original saw table complete but is missing the carriage. I have an opportunity to pick up a newer carriage (has a wheel for table lift) for a fair price bu...

JPG- I’m sure you are right and have a lot more experience than I do, so thank you. Not sure if I can let it go right or wrong I may make the adjustment. I will think about it long and hard before. Thanks again. You could try taking the casters out on one side, popping washers on the posts then put...
