My bearing supplier is saying that there's no quality difference between C1 and C3 -- those are just date designations. Does anyone know what this is about?

I think remember Bill saying I can order bearings through him. Is that right? Called my local supply; they only have C3 and I'd like to get C1 since it's a single bearing quill.

You know, with this C1 bearing, and a good clutch, the Gilmer drive is at least as good as the Poly-V, if not better. :)

I had hoped to give you guys a good report about my completed rebuilt headstock. Alas. Rocky Mountain Supply supplied me with yet another bearing of the wrong size. This one was too big (the other was too small). I'm wondering now if I should look elsewhere. I have a Gilmer drive with a single beari...

My last post was a little convoluted. I'm hoping to put quill on tonight. This thing will then be done, except accessories. This has been a long road. Thanks everyone. You people don't know how much you helped me. I'd still be cutting wood with a handsaw (not that I mind a hand saw, but straight cut...

UPDATE: All put together and running except quill (bearing place gave me the wrong size). Some questions... When I turn her on, the lights dim for a couple seconds, she lags, and then kicks in gear as the lights go back to normal. (3/4 HP -- new bearings in the motor.) If I have her turned all the w...

I'm just going with the three-in-one for now. Need to get this thing working this weekend. I'm going to finish cleaning today, and the try to press those bearings, beginning with motor. If the motor sounds good I'll move on to the rest. Still wondering if anyone has a diagram of the wiring on 3/4 hp...

Pics are great. Any recommendations on oil for lubricating? Bill said a turbine oil, but I can't find it.

Vital therapy?! I am going to need vital therapy once I'm done with this thing. Picked up five new bearings today. $45. Many, many thanks for the photos and info on the drive shaft. As for the other shafts... Battery: I think one goes on the very back end of the shaft. The other goes somewhere befor...
