Re: I am looking for a quiet air compressor for my garage

I have the large bore Makita 3 hp (I think) twin tank. I can care on a conversation within 4 ft of it when it is running. Way quieter than the Rigid I had before.

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

I have the DC6000 and though I don't have an air flow meter can say the flow is much higher than my DC3300. I hooked up to my spindle sander that its about 9 in from the collector and turned it on. The air flow noise coming from Rigid Spindle sander caught me off guard as the DC3300 air flow noise c...

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

Yes it does. I will look it over this evening and report back. Also, got my shipping notice on the strap today. Jack Jack, Glad you got it and it is working well for you. Some of us are just wondering what is changed inside the DC-6000 versus the DC-3000, e.g. larger impeller or larger motor, etc. B...

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

Got the capacitor installed and fired it up. Decibel rating is 72 at 3 feet, the DC3000 measured 70db at 3 feet. Not bad at all. I don't have an airflow meter. All in all I am quite happy with my purchase.

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

Update: I called SS this morning and waited on hold for less than 5 seconds. Nice lady told me they would take care of the defective strap right away. I also received my capacitor today. I will get it installed this evening and provide another update. I have to install the capacitor and the bag then...

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

David, Apparently I misspoke. I said forgot to install as that is in fact true. Further investigation revealed that the final install was to be performed by the purchaser. Would have been more accurate to say they failed to include the capacitor in my order but you drew a more inaccurate conclusion ...

Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

David, I am not certain but there is an extra pigtail that protrudes from the rear of the unit that has two female bullet connectors on it. There is nothing attached. The main connector looks like the one on my DC3000 and plugs up to the RT leg connector that sends power to the unit. I believe the c...
