Re: Missing In Action

As a lifetime farmer and being involved with a number of other enterprises I have always depended heavily on a lot of long term planning. In more recent years I have tossed any 20 year plans... :) and 15 year planning is in a trash bag at the curb. 5 year planning is alive and well but 10 year plann...

Re: New to the hobby; looking for tips

The "standard" Shopsmith Allen wrench (that always came with the machine new) is much longer in both dimensions than a normal Allen wrench and is fully functional to use. Having said that, once you get a good quality Tee handled one you will spend a half hour looking for it when you miss-p...

Re: Anyone know what this is from?

After so many years it is common for parts of different tools to get mixed together. I have quite a collection of non-Shopsmith parts that have come with my restoration purchases. And if you are like me you have been trying to throw some of them away for years but still keep sticking them back in a...

Re: Talking horseshoes, as in what the heck???

I'm afraid that I'm not much of a horseshoe expert. We keep all of ours barefoot. We don't even do a lot of hoof trimming. I do a lot of planning so that they have to walk a lot while grazing so they keep their hooves worn down decent and healthy. Almost all of the client horses here are also barefo...

Re: ShopSmith back to work

I too wish everyone well but sadly I fear that a whole lot of people that have no conception of what it is like to do without or they just buy what ever they want, when they want are about to get a very thorough and very quick education...

Re: Off for another adventure

farmer, I noticed something interesting in the picture. The bench boards have been remounted under the top of the metal bench ends instead of being over top of them. Was this done for a specific reason? The guy I got it from was not very tall and I assume that was the most simple way to make it low...

Re: Off for another adventure

I was looking at my 10-ER this morning and its giblets and realized that the lathe tool rest was missing. An older style tool rest was laying on the bench shelf (the one with the big threads) but not the 10-ER rest. I must have put the original in a box or bucket back when I first moved the woodshop...

Re: Getting Your Stimulus Check

My wife mentioned earlier this week that my $$$ showed up in the bank.
Interestingly (or not :) ) I saw where a number of deceased folks are getting checks but they don't plan to get that money back. Said it was not worth all of the extra work to go after $1,200.

Re: Woodpeckers Bevel Square

I have about 7 or 8 of them I guess. A couple were my father's and I think one of those was my grandfather's. I put one on my Xmas want list one year back years ago. Others I picked up at yard/garage sales. Garage sales and auctions are how I end up with so many multiples of various tools. Even then...
